Jerks on Patrol

Your mother got pulled over by a city cop. I didn't get a ticket. I just got a lecture from a total jerk.
Last Friday night your Dad decided to make a quick run to Boise. He called me to meet him at the new truck stop next to the A&W on the junction of Hwy 26 and whatever the Riverside Highway is. We went out to Wingers for dinner and had a nice time and he hit the road about 7 p.m.
I watched Brent leave and I ran into the C store to pick up some cranberry juice.
The turn light was perfect for me to make my left hand turn and I noticed a city cop as I made my turn. Immediately after I made my turn I saw flashing lights in my back window and I moved to the right hand lane and slowed to a crawl so he could pass. The county cop headed for the freeway so my first thought was, I hope Brent is okay in the semi.
As we all know I was on the Snake River bridge.
The second I was through the stop light for entering and leaving the freeway, the emergency lights came on behind me once again. I thought they would go around me so I slowed way down, but the car stayed on my tail. I decided I was being pulled over, but there wasn't a prayer I was stopping on the side of the road. Especially since I was ran over the last time I was on a roadway with a cop. They could take me away in handcuff, but I was headed to a nice safe lighted area to stop my car. I pulled into the parking lot between McDonalds and the old Albertsons' store and stopped under a light.
The city cop jumped out of his car and came to my car and shined this really bright flashlight at me so I couldn't see who he was to identify him. I got this really vicious lecture about blocking the emergency vehicle for 30 to 45 seconds and not pulling over and stopping to let him past me.
I said I saw the lights and pulled over immediately, within one or two seconds of entering the roadway. I didn't see emergency lights before I made my turn. There was no siren. Plus I was on a bridge and it's illegal to stop on a bridge.
For some reason this bozo thought he could intimidate me. From the onset, and from what he said I had done, I knew he had pulled over the WRONG car.
He yelled at me for not stopping when he turned on his lights to pull me over. I told him there wasn't a prayer I was going to stop until I had reached a safe location. The roads weren't good and the snow plow hadn't left a shoulder?
The first thing I did Saturday morning was retrace my path to make certain my mind wasn't playing tricks on me after having driven that short section of road reguarly for 30 years.
I know for absolute certainty, some moron cop mixed up cars in the dark and pulled over the only car that didn't go onto the freeway.
What makes this story more ironic is that our school's rent-a-cop had quit earlier that day because he said after 40 years, he'd had it with working with the current bunch of moron city cops.
