My Uncle Gayle passed away

John Gayle Morgan 11/27/1924 ~ 2/12/2010 J. Gayle Morgan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, returned to his Heavenly Father at the age of 85 on Friday, February 12, 2010, surrounded by his family. Gayle was born November 27, 1924, in Ucon, Idaho, to Eldon Clive and Phoebe Jane Lords Morgan. During World War II he honorably served in the U.S. Navy for three years, and afterwards served an LDS Mission in Eastern Canada. He married the love of his life, Shirley Christensen, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in Idaho on December 15, 1950. They raised and loved seven children. After graduating from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Social Sciences, he worked as a state social worker in the east Bay Area of California and then Logan, Utah. Gayle and Shirley lived in Hyrum, Utah, for 19 years. Together, they operated a motel in Heber City and a jewelry store in Provo. They lived in West Valley for five years, while Gayle worked for the LDS church, and then retired in a home in Riverton, Utah, where they have lived for the past 21 years. Gayle was an avid reader and fisherman, loved music, and enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, and fixing equipment and cars. His wife and family were his life, and he was never happier than when spending time or playing games with them. He was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served diligently in all of his callings. He and Shirley enjoyed doing weekly temple work until recently. Gayle was always happy to help his neighbors and family with anything they needed. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22 at 11 a.m. at the Riverton 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 12830 S. 2700 W. A viewing will be held at the Broomhead Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21 from 6 - 8 p.m. at 12590 S. 2200 W. in Riverton, Utah, and one hour prior to the Funeral service on Monday at the Chapel. Interment will follow the Funeral at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park with Military Honors.
